The F.A.M.E. event was the most amazing night of my life! I was so grateful just to be there! I felt like I was dreaming! : ) I just want to say THANK YOU, from my heart, because it means so much to me that you are willing to help artists in the way you do. It is people like you who give many artists a reason to keep on going and reaching for their dreams. I am the second oldest of 7 kids and I have always worked hard for everything that I have. I have worked since the age of 9, for a Tye-dye company, a daycare center, singing at restaurants, etc. to pay for everything that I can for my career. My parents are very supportive, but with 6 siblings, they do not have the resources to get my music produced professionally. I work hard to try and do that myself. Your generous gift will allow me to take my strongest song and get my name in front of the music industry. I have been trying to teach myself how to produce it, but I'm just beginning. I have a very close and loving family, but we have struggled these past few years very hard, and your help will allow me to go back into the studio and work on a song with professional music producers. This means the world to me!! I want to say thank you and to tell you how blessed and grateful I am to have had the opportunity to be involved. Someday, I hope to be able to help people like you do.... You are so kind and I hope to make you proud and I hope to give back to others in a big way.

After winning FAME, I was able to apply the scholarship money towards the production of the first song from my first EP in 3 years.
I found a wonderful producer at Gravity Studios in Chicago to work on my original song, "Plaything." Jameel was more than a producer, he was a teacher. He taught me so much about life, music, and following my dreams. Jameel wasn't worried about money and told Ashleigh he would release the song now and she could pay the balance as she could afford to. He said he was producing it because he wanted to be a part of something wonderful, not because he was wanting to make money. The song was almost completed when sadly, on April 22, 2012, Jameel was killed by a hit and run drunk driver on his way home from the studio. Jameel left behind a wife and 3 children under the age of 3. April 22nd was also one of his son's birthday. Ashleigh is still in negotiations with Gravity and now trying to raise enough money to complete the song and see Jameel and her vision of this song become reality. The time spent in the studio with Jameel was priceless and the lessons he taught her she will carry with her forever. She is now part of a benefit commemorating Jameel's life and legacy. Ashleigh has also had 3 different Chicago area film makers offer their services for music videos which are currently in preproduction. Ashleigh continues speaking to high school children about the power of words and following their dreams giving her own one hour long assembly in many schools through out the midwest. She is very grateful for all of the doors that FAME has opened for her!
